In Bamberg the name “Messerschmitt” means hospitality on a very high level. In the guest books you will find presidents and chancellors of the Federal Republic of Germany, members of the world aristocracy, clerical princes as well as very important persons from the past and the present.
After having examined old records, you’ll find out that in the “Messerschmitt” wine has already been served in 1832. The legend tells us, that a fisherman – belonging to the “Messerschmitt” family – brought a barrel of wine from his travels on the river Main to the family “Messerschmitt”. They sold it glass by glass - the wine house “Messerschmitt” was born. The history of the house between the “Langgasser gates” dates back to the year 1422. The family successors Otto and Lydia Pschorn continued the wine house tradition from 1955 – 2005 and since 2006 her daughter, Mrs. Ursula Medenwald, is continuing the hotel-tradition now in the sixth generation.
Be enchanted by the pleasant atmosphere and the personal hospitality of an old wine house, full of patina, soul and tradition, which has always been adapted and managed up to the present by the family successors. By the way the “Romantik-Hotel Messerschmitt” is listed amongst the 600 best restaurants in Germany and in the “Feinschmecker” journal 2009/2010 under the best restaurants and hotels.
In May 2006 the hotel has been enlarged with 50 new rooms including a small wellness area with sauna and steam-bath.
